Die's latest ESP Signature
Kaoru's latest ESP Signature
Die and Kaoru usually play 6 string for long time (from Dir en grey's first album). but now for some song, they use 7 string guitar.
Tuning for this band are usually Drop C# tuning. Some song use E Standard. This is individual string tune.
6 : C#
5 : G#
4 : C#
3 : F#
2 : Bb 1 : Eb
But Die is more regular than this tuning. His tuning are very unique.
All 6 strings are tune to note G# and C# except 6th string tuned to A# and by strumming open string this sound feel very unison (same note on many string). This is individual string tune.
6 : A#
6 : A#
5 : C#
4 : G#
3 : G#
2 : C#
1 : C#
1 : C#
These are some example song that Die play in unique tuning.
("Hageshisa To, Kono Mune No Naka De Karamitsuita Shakunetsu No Yami")
And after Uroboros album they're sometime use 7 string, such as next example.
What tuning does Toshiya use on his 5-string bass? I currently have mine set to AbDbAbDbGb, but I'm not sure if that's accurate or not
ReplyDeleteIt's driving me nuts to understand Toshiya's tuning. I have an ibanez 5 strings not long ago and the main reason to buy it for me was to be able to play Dir en grey although there are many songs in standard tuning but the new material it's all drop tunings. HELP!!!! I was want to know which one will be the one that he uses the most and it will be great to know how to get there :) DIR EN GREY TILL THE END
ReplyDeletethanks Chuck Mayer! i belive that you are right or really close :) i would say that AbDbAbDbGb it's correct ;)
